With 4th of July quickly approaching, families everywhere will gather for BBQ’s, pool parties and fireworks. Each time a holiday approaches, I find it difficult to find healthy, yet yummy recipes that everyone will love and typically spend many hours hunting through cookbooks to find just the right one’s. Not this year! I recently found that making a not-so-healthy recipe healthy, is much easier than one would think.
Did you know that you can substitute applesauce in place of butter and replace sugar with with apple juice? Well perhaps a few of you seasoned bakers were aware of this, however my lame attempts at baking have always been followed up with the guilt of the fat and calories I’m consuming and I’m happy to know that there is a healthier way to cut fat and continue to make my favorite treats!
This year, Tree Top is celebrating its 50th anniversary of producing pure and healthy products by encouraging Americans everywhere to eat more apples! There’s plenty of ways you can incorporate more apples into your families diet such as creating juice-sicles with just a small cup and a few Popsicle sticks. This is a simple and fun project you can gets the kids involved in and in just a few hours you have healthy Popsicle that the kids will love! Try marinating steak or fish in apple juice to add additional flavor without added sodium or incorporate apple juice and applesauce into your current recipes! The point is: EAT MORE APPLES!
