These words were ringing in my head after I sent my very practical husband to Ikea to pick up a few things and he came back with multiple stacked boxes, of which I couldn’t lift! Kids plates, bowls and a dresser for my closet…that was the list! 3 things…2 of them small. Simple enough right?
WRONG!
Keep in mind that Ikea is a good hour from us and with two car seats in the back of our mid-sized SUV, I was certain that this fact combined with his practical awareness would certainly keep him from bringing any “extras” back with him. So as he pulled into the garage, I noticed that Lil’ Pea’s car seat was missing and I was having a hard time seeing through the back window of the car.
OH DEAR ME!
He flung open the door with a huge smile on his face and says ” I have a surprise for you”! OMG…what has he done?… decided to replace my entire line of cookware, dinner plates, bedding, or worse yet …my chair! No, no it couldn’t be that simple. He brought home 2 brand new beds for my girls AND a second dresser for my closet, among other “things”! I can understand coming home with a bag of cookies or even some cool Ipod gadget, but furniture? I love you honey, but you have some “plaining” to do!
The humor in all of this is that we just purchased beds for my girls a few months ago from Ikea and the one’s he brought home had one difference…just one.. the headboards that once had a metal piece running through them, now have a wood piece… That’s. The. Only. Difference.
I’ve still yet to figure out why I need second dresser. Perhaps for my large array of t-shirts (I have 8 ) or for my giant wardrobe of jeans (I have 4)…ooh, ooh or perhaps it’s for my gigantic collection of Victoria’s Secret Bras (I have 3)!
The Point? DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SEND YOUR HUSBAND TO THE STORE!

Lmao. I LOVE this!!! My husband and I always buy more things when we are together. But yes, he always spends money on things that we don’t really need. He buys more stuff than I do and then complains that we have too much stuff. My son has 10 sippy cups, he only really uses 4 of them, they have Cars on them. But why does he have 10? Because a 4 pack was on sale at Sam’s Club. Ugg…

That’s too funny! I think I’m more like your hubs. I could easily change out beds and dressers once a year, whereas my hubs likes to hold on to what we have.
I could get myself into some pretty big trouble at Ikea!

LOL That is really funny…something my hubby would totally do.

Yeah, I learned this lesson a long time ago! I sent him to walmart to pick up the front carrier for my son when he was first born and he came back with one that was for older kids for… get this! Use during hiking. He spent around $75 for that one when the one I wanted was maybe $30.

LOL.
That’s funny! I guess I should not complain about my husband because he is very good at going to the store for groceries but is an impatient shopper for things like clothes and shoes.

I think this is true even for little things where you figure they won’t be tempted to go off the plan… Sent my husband to get more diapers for our 6.5lb newborn… He returns with size 1 diapers (8-14 lbs) and four pints of Hagen Daas. 😛

Too funny! My husband is constantly buying “extras” on the rare occassions I let him do the shopping! LOL! He’s always telling me not to buy “extras” at the grocery store but the one time I send him he has bags and bags of “extras”. And why is it that they can’t follow the VERY DETAILED list you give them? He’s always bringing home a different brand or flavor that I asked for. Oh the fun of a husband! 🙂
