these are completely plastic, which should have been disclosed in the description. they are smaller than the mattel planes. thought i was getting a deal from a vendor who indicated an original price of $39.99. this set is $12.50 at disneystore.com. i got suckered.

When I ordered these, I saw that they were from Planes, a movie our son loves, that they were eligible for Prime shipping, and I was hadn't found a better idea for our son's Valentine's Day gift. I should've read the reviews closely. They are poorly made. Maybe if your child intends to put them on a shelf and never play with them, they'd be fine. Our 3 1/2 year old son isn't particularly rough with his toys, but he does play with them...he pushes them on the floor, pretends to fly them, etc. Within two weeks, one of the propellers broke off the Skipper plane, while he was putting it in their storage case. He wasn't being rough, I was standing right there. It bumped the Sparky car, and it broke off. Yesterday he was spinning the whole propeller on the Dusty plane, and the part that fits into the nose of the plane came out. It didn't look broken, just like the glue was weak maybe. I feel so bad, but I simply took them away. We have a 5 1/2 month old daughter who will be... Read more

We bought this playset for my son who is an avid Pixar fan (as are most 3 year olds I would imagine). They arrived in plenty of time for Christmas and he was very excited when he opened them. I was less so, given the cheap feel and plastic construction. I broke Dusty the first day when I stepped on it accidently. The others fell to the same fate over time, losing tails, landing gear, and wings. It looks like the Planes Graveyard and all the planes are either in the trash or buried in the bottom of a toy bin. Overall, you get what you pay for and we will stick with the metal planes, though when you step on one of them, it breaks your foot, not the toy.
