Sun Protection Zone Review: UV Protection Clothing For the Whole Family

You are here: Home / Reviews / Sun Protection Zone Review: UV Protection Clothing For the Whole Family

April 25, 2010 //  by admin//  4 Comments

With spring time, comes rising temperatures and here in California we are seeing beautiful sunny skies and temperatures rising by the day.  We currently live in what would be considered the desert, and with summer time temperatures reaching highs of 113 deg., it’s important that any child who lives here is properly protected from the sun’s harmful rays!

We spend a large majority of the summer in the pool and with Statistics showing that one in five Americans are victims of skin cancer and 90% of skin cancer is caused by the sun’s harmful rays, it’s ever so important to protect my girls fragile skin from being permeated by this natural force.

Introducing SunSkinz
With that being said, I would like to introduce you to a company that offers UV protection swimwear that covers more than just the obvious areas.  Sun Protection Zone offers UV swimwear for both boys and girls, as well as adults!  We were sent Sun Protection Zone’s SunSkinz…. children’s shirts that can be worn in and out of the water and cover much more than your average bathing suit!    Made of proprietary high density yarn that provide 100 SPF / UPF 50+ UV Protection, SunSkinz are considered a sunscreen of sorts that you can’t wash off. The fabric is comfortable, dries quickly and holds up against chlorine and salt water.

Tell Me More!
To put it quite simply, SunSkinz offer additional protection for fragile skin and as parents it’s our job to make sure they are safe.  I can certainly tell you that my mind is put at ease when their wearing the shirts.  Sure I put sunscreen on my kids, but there are times where it doesn’t get spread evenly or the sun just simply penetrates through the sunscreen over time.  I’m constantly reapplying the ol’ sunscreen!  I love that the shirts are not real tight to the skin  unlike many pieces of UV swimwear I’ve seen to date.  The girls are comfortable wearing the shirts and are happy to put them on!  SCORE!

Buy it!
Children’s sizes range from size 2-12 and adult sizes are also available.  Sunskinz retail for $18 and can be purchased at www.sunprotectionzone.com.  Additionally, you’ll find many other sun protection items including  hats, sunglasses and even long sleeve suits! “Deal”ectible Mommies readers can use code: mommyblog to save 10% on their purchase!

My daughter has very fair skin, but loves to play outside, especially in her pool. This suit would be great.

Thanks for the great review. I need to try these out for my 7 yr old son and 2.5 yr old daughter as I make them wear sun shirts at the pool at beach all summer long. Thanks for sharing.
