Epson Artisan 710 Printer Review

FacebookTwitterPinterestAmazon Wish ListShare

I recently made the plunge and purchased a super-duper semi-professional Canon camera and truth be told, I’m still not exactly sure how to work it. I play with it far more than I should, and could probably learn everything I need to know in a one day intro class, but I prefer to learn my way and take a few months to really feel my new high tech gadgets out! Stubborn? Perhaps! With such an amazing camera, I really wanted a printer that was going to produce some amazing prints and we were recently given the opportunity to check out the Epson Artisan 710 All-in-One Printer, with built-in Wi-Fi and the ability to produce Ultra Hi-Def prints! With my new camera in tow, I was excited to put the printer to work and see what it could do!

Built-in Wi-fi & Ethernet Networking
With the Artisan 710, you can easily share this printer with multiple computers!  My husband loves his desktop…I love my laptop… and I typically have it attached to my hip throughout the house!  So when I’m surfing the internet in the kitchen and find a great coupon, I just hit print and it sends it directly to the printer and I can retrieve it when I’m ready!  The Artisan 710 allows users to print, scan and access memory cards from any room in the house!  An Ethernet connection is included for wired networking and connecting to a wireless or wired network is simple and takes just a few minutes.

Professional Looking CD’s/DVD’s
Have you ever attempted to create a professional looking CD or DVD?  Ok I have… and it wasn’t pretty!  The Artisan 710 comes with software that allows users the ability to create professional looking CD’s/DVD’s in a matter of minutes using text and images!  Unlike most printers on the market today, the Artisan 710 has a built-in CD/DVD tray and with a push of a button, the tray pops out!  You can then simply load your blank CD/DVD and within a few seconds you have a professional looking CD/DVD!  Just look at the one I created in less than a minute (yes really..less than a minute) using the included software and a picture of a rose that I took using my new Canon DSLR!  Just imagine what you could create with a little more time and some amazing shots!

Print Quality
Let’s be honest!  Print quality is the #1 factor that consumers are looking for in a printer and Epson stands out among the rest!  In fact, it’s #1 in photo quality!  This printer works with six-color Claria Hi-Definition Ink, delivering beautiful photos and crystal clear text.  Just look at this 4×6 photo I printed in less than 10 seconds!  I was amazed at how quiet the printer was while printing this 4×6 photo.  In fact, I didn’t think it was working until I looked inside and noticed a piece of paper slowly coming at me… name is Candace and I’m lame!

Back to the point at hand, the Artisan 710 delivers beautiful, sharp and grain free photos bringing out accurate skin tones that are smudge, scratch, water, and fade resistant.  The printer also comes equipped with an Auto Photo Correction that automatically corrects the lighting in poorly exposed images and even has an option to remove red eye, to ensure perfect prints every time!

Two-sided Printing & Fast Print Speeds
With the Artisan 710 you can print double-sided documents on plain paper.  My husband loves this feature when he needs to print manuals for work and I love that he doesn’t have the printer tied up for too long!  I was surprised at how quick the double sided printing feature worked and it was dry immediately!  In fact, the Artisan 710 delivers fast print speeds of up to 38 ppm and laser quality print speeds of 9.5 ppm!

Scanning and Copying
Both the scanner and the copier are quite user friendly.  With just one touch, you can have a copy in a matter of seconds and move on with your day.  The scanner features three scanning levels with the Epson Scan software including Full Auto, Office and Home and Professional.  The scanner can be used with imaging applications or as a standalone scanner, using the icon located on your desktop.

Charge Your Mobile Device and Print From your Iphone
The Artisan 710 allows you to charge your MP3 player or cell phone using the front USB port!  Forget tying up an additional power outlet, just plug it into the Artisan 710!  This printer will also allow you to print from several applications using WIFI from your Iphone or Ipod Touch!  Print business documents, photos, PDF files and more.  I cannot tell you how many pictures I have saved in my Iphone and they typically just sit there and I never do anything with them.  With the Artisan 710 I can print my pictures and save those captured memories.

Designed with the Environment in Mind
The Epson Artisan 710 is designed to be recycled and Energy Star qualified!   The estimated power consumption for one year, is less than $2!  Impressive?  Um…yea!

Additional Information
The Artisan 710 features a tilt and easy to view 2.5″ LCD that is user friendly and allows you to view photos and before printing, as well as view photo slide shows and printing photos without a computer.  The Artisan 710 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows Vista, or WIndows 7!  also compatible with Macintosh OS X10.3.9, 10.4.11, 10.5x, or 10.6x.

I’ve been thinking about buying a photo printer and you’ve helped me in the decision-making so much! This is very affordable and that’s a great rebate, too. I would love to make some personalized coloring books, and love that this one has an LCD screen. Thanks for the thorough review!

I used to be pretty involved in the digi scrapping community once upon a time and I have to say, I never heard or read anything negative about any Epson printers! I’ve only heard good things about them and when/if my Canon ever bites the dust, I’m going the Epson route.

Thanks so much for the detailed review. The scanner on my printer has been dead for a while now and I am so frustrated with Lexmark. I would love to try something like this Epson. From your review, it looks like it would be perfect for my needs!

Love that it is Wi-Fi enabled. I use a laptop in the living room and I nowhere near a printer! It’s also super cool that you can charge and plug mobile devices right into it. That would be cool for printing pictures from my iPhone.

Great review. I had an Epson years ago and I loved it. Then it finally died on me and my husband bought me another brand (on sale). I miss my Espon. It was a great printer.

Thanks for the review. I’ll have to keep an eye out for this one whenever I need to replace my current printer.
