If you have been a long-time reader here at “Deal”ectable Mommies, then you know full well that I’m a social networking junkie. At any given moment, I can typically be found on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and/or other social networking sites, spreading the news about great deals or just connecting with my online and offline friends.
What I haven’t told you, is that I’m terrified of the thought of my kids engaging in social networking activities, primarily because of safety and privacy issues – in fact, I don’t see myself allowing my girls to have Facebook accounts until their old enough to get married….perhaps about the age of 29 or so! That sounds about right, doesn’t it?
Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that social networking is here to stay, and sooner than later she will be asking to engage with others via these outlets. When that time arrives, I believe it’s my job as a parent to ensure that she’s doing it safely, and that each move is carefully monitored. In fact, online site, Kidzworld, does just that!
