Is the Crayola Marker Maker Worth Buying?
The Crayola Marker Maker allows your child to create markers. They can follow a guide of just use their own creativity and imagination. The kit provides your child with the ability to experiment with a different range of colors. It is kind of like a science kit but without your kid really realizing that they are learning too!
The set can make a total of 16 markers. Refills are available for markers and ink. You do need to buy these separately but most felt that they were great value bearing in mind how much fun most children find the marker set.
The Crayola Marker Maker is very easy to use. Your child chooses the ink colors, mixes the colors together, and dips the marker into a reservoir that goes into a measuring tube. Tweezers are used to remove the core from the tube allowing your child to assemble his or her original marker. Your child can use the labels provided to name the markers with his or her own personalized touch.
Of course whenever I think about buying something like this I want to know how much mess it makes. Fortunately the Marker Maker is good and the mess can be pretty much self contained.
If you have a child at the younger end of the recommended age range (starting at 6) then you do need to supervise and be around to help open the ink containers. One problem too is that the labels provided in the kit don’t stick very well to the marker. This can be solved by taping the labels down taped down.
