Having just spent an amazing two weeks on a Disney cruise I was missing my Disney fix! Thank goodness that my new Diamond Edition of The Little Mermaid just arrived and I just spent a wonderful afternoon with my daughter watching this movie classic.

As you may know, Disney puts it’s movies in the ‘Vault’ where no more new copies of the movie are available. It is always an exciting event when Disney releases movies from the Vault and right now it is The Little Mermaid which was released on 1st October.
The Little Mermaid Diamond edition is available for the first time on Blu-ray with digitally restored picture and brilliant high-definition sound! It looks beautiful. It is difficult to believe that this movie was first released in 1989 as it looks great with the digitally restored picture.
The Little Mermaid is of course a classic Disney Princess movie. Ariel is the favorite of many little girls (and lots of grown up ones too). What makes it particularly outstanding is the music of Alan Menken and Howard Ashmen. We all know those songs so well. “Under The Sea” and “Part of Your World” have to be some of the very best of all the Disney movie songs.
As with all DVDs we always want to know what the extra features are and we are pleased to say that The Little Mermaid offers some really good bonus features. A particular favorite is the feature which shows Jodie Benson (the voice of Ariel) on The Little Mermaid attraction at Disney World’s New Fantasyland.
We are also looking forward to watching @Disney Animation a behind the scenes look at Disney animation studios, Howard Ashmen’s lecture, deleted character feature Harold the Merman, and the new “Part of Your World” music video performed by Carly Rae Jepson.
