Have you ever thought of taking your favorite photo and turning it into a true piece of art?  I’ve dabbled with the idea for some time now and with the girls recent photo shoot I knew I wanted to do more with these fabulous pictures than just placing them in a frame and slapping it on the wall!  There is one picture from our photo shoot in particular that was taken from behind both Big Pea & Lil’ Pea standing on a wooden fence and looking at the river.  To our family, this picture was priceless and when I was introduced to Canvas Press, I knew this picture had to be printed on canvas and displayed as a piece of art in our home!

What is Canvas Press?
Canvas Press offers an online resource where you can take any photo and print it on canvas.  The interface is simple and the process is easy.

– Simply pick your canvas wrap (this option will allow you to pick the thickness of your canvas)
– Select Canvas Size (ours is 16×20)
– Select a border style (we chose to have our picture wrap around the sides)
– Select any enhancements you may want included on your canvas (such as black & white, retouching, etc.)
– Upload your picture

Your cherished photo will now be turned into a canvas wall print !

Canvas Press offers different styles of canvas prints to choose from including standard stretched (to be used if you plan on framing your canvas print), gallery wrap (if you plan on hanging your canvas print),   and canvas only.  I think the enhancements such as choosing your print in Sepia would be an added art feature depending on what look you want to get out of your canvas.  If you have an old photo, Canvas Press offers basic retouching if you have just a few areas that need some a little love or advanced retouching that need extensive work.  Canvas Press even has artists on board that will take your photo and paint it on canvas…I love this feature!  You can even make specific requests in order to make your canvas just the way you want it…do you think they can make my butt look smaller?  Ok maybe not, but you get my point!

Our Experience
Creating your canvas masterpiece is the simple part.  Choosing the picture….not so much!  I have thousands of pictures of my girls as I’m sure any parent would and finding just the right picture proved to be a bit difficult.  Luckily, we had just had an outdoor photo session with Photography by Casey and she took some amazing shots like the one I told you about above.  The girls are standing on a fence, looking at the river and the shot was taken from behind.  I love the shots from behind and I knew this picture would be the perfect one!

Within just a few days of ordering we had a large, flat box on our door step, that was nicely packaged to prevent damage.  Canvas Press really put alot of thought into the packaging of the print as it was truly protected and I could barely get into it.  Bravo to the shipping department!  I finally removed it out of the box after removing multiple layers of cardboard and packaging to reveal the most amazing print I’ve ever seen.  The colors were bright and the picture was so clear that it felt as if you could have reached out and touched the river that the girls were admiring.

The quality of the picture was truly amazing and after further looking over the canvas print, I came to the conclusion that someone really took their time in putting this canvas print together.  Every step of our creation process was easy, flawless and we now have a one-of-a-kind canvas print displayed on our wall and everyone that comes through our home notices it.  Not only will I not hesitate to order from Canvas Press again, I will be ordering from Canvas Press again and this time I’m going bigger!


Canvas Wall Collages
Canvas Press also offers wall collages where you can take one image and split it into multiple canvases, which can then be hung next to each other to create the ultimate piece of art!  This option would really make a statement on any wall!

  129. I found they accept different file formats

    Canvas Press can accept .JPG, .PNG and .PSD files up to 100MB in size online. If your file is a .PSD over this size limit or a .TIF you can flatten the image, convert to RGB in 8-bit mode and save as a .JPG at the maximum quality level. We print at 240 dpi so if your image is at size and above 240 dpi you can decrease the resolution to this level, as it must be decreased anyway for printing. Since there will not be many more adjustments to the file you will not see a change in quality. If you must send a .TIF or other format file not accepted online or a file larger than 100MB please burn it to a disc and mail it to us.
