Dyson Ball DC24 All Floors Vacuum Review

I think it’s ok to tell you that I’m in love with my new Dyson DC24 Ball Vacuum, however I’m not sure it’s ok to tell you that I named it!  Yep, “Baby Ball” has entered our home and I’m quite certain you’d have to rip it from my hands with great force in order to take it away from me!  After our recent review of the DC31 handheld, I was more than curious as to what an upright Dyson could do and I sure found out!

About the Dyson DC24 All Floors
Weighing in at just 12 lbs.  , the Dyson DC24 All Floors is a lightweight, ultra compact upright vacuum that features Dyson’s Ball technology for superior maneuverability!  The DC24 is the baby sister/brother to the DC25, and features all of the performance of the full size DC25, however it is only 2/3 the size .  Dyson’s ball technology allows it’s users to maneuver around furniture with a simple turn of your wrist and the Root Cyclone technology ensures that the vacuum never loses suction.

Our Experience:
I have to tell you that since Dyson’s ball technology was released, I have wanted to play with this vacuum.  When the UPS man brought the pretty new Dyson box to the door, I think he thought I may fall over with excitement.  I think if I remember correctly, he said something around the lines of “wow, I wish a vacuum made me that happy”!  I told him to buy a Dyson and he may find that a vacuum could make him very, very happy.   He smiled and said “I’ll see you tomorrow”!

The Unveil
As I unpacked the DC24, I marveled at it’s bright orange color and was surprised that something so small could actually pack the same suction power as the DC25 and I was eager to find out if the claims stood true.  It was time to put it to work! Putting the vacuum together proved to be rather funny as the handle simply sits inside of the flexible tube and doesn’t actually “click” into place and my brain wasn’t used to such simplicity .  Normally that little “clicking” sounds means that you have properly assembled an item, but with the DC24 I soon found out that the strong suction power itself, was the single most important factor of assembly.

All Systems Go
Once I figured out that there would be no “clicky” type of insurance, I moved on to plugging it in!  As I turned it on, I was rather surprised at it’s muffled sound.  The DC24 is certainly not as loud as many of the previous vacuums we have owned and with the simple push of a button I also activated the front roller brush.  That little roller brush really gets down and within about 5 minutes of vacuuming the carpet in my front room, I was rather disappointed by what my “other” vacuum had left behind!  I then moved on to the tile floors as most of our home contains tile.  I vacuum the tile everyday and I was really hoping that this tiny marvel was going to help me out with my daily chores.  Let me just tell you that the “Baby Ball” kicked my tile’s butt all over the place!  My floors were spick and span in no time and not only did I hear everything that the vacuum was picking up but the clear canister showed me the proof!

Big Things Come in Small Packages
As I stated earlier, the small size of the DC24 is meaningless when referring to it’s suction power.  The DC24 packs the same suction power as it’s larger counterpart the DC25 and to prove it’s point, just try to pull it off the floor!  The small size of the DC24 not only allows you to push, pull and pick up the DC24 with ease, it also allowed me to vacuum in tight areas that my larger vacuum cannot get in to.  Just because the “baby ball” is small,  doesn’t mean mean it lacks on features!  The DC24 features a reversible handle that can be pulled out of the flexible tube and simply turned around to create a cleaning wand with the suction power of no other!  When cleaning time is finished,  the vacuums hygienic bin can quickly be emptied with a simple press of a button.  The push handle can then be pushed down, creating one small, compact unit that can be stored in a cabinet!  Seriously, does a vacuum get any cooler than this?

Asthma? Allergies? No Problem!
The DC24 comes equipped with a HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens like pollen and bacteria.  All Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe!  That’s so cool!

Final Thoughts
With the DC24’s impressive suction power, compact fold, on board attachments and pivoting ball, we give this vacuum two thumbs up and think everyone should own a “baby ball”! I have yet to mention that Dyson offers a 5 year warranty on all parts and labor and it’s impressive that Dyson is standing behind their name and their product! If I had one improvement to offer on the DC24, I would simply add a longer cord, other than that this vacuum is simply perfection!
