In recent years, more and more research has shown the importance of essential fatty acids in our diets and the large role it plays in our children’s development. It has been said that children should eat fish 2-3 times a week, however actually making that happen seems next to impossible! I may be able to fit in a salmon dinner once a week, however anything beyond that is just not feasible and I would be considered lucky if they actually ate it!
Ascenta has recently introduced and alternative for parents who’s children aren’t so “fish friendly”, called NutraSea Kids. This supplement allows parents to provide their kids with Essential Fatty Acids (just 1 teaspoon a day) that the kids will actually take with it’s “Very Berry” taste. NutraSea Kids took into account that many children have difficulty swallowing soft gels and capsules, so they created a kids supplement in a liquid format that makes it easy for children to take and it can even be added to milkshakes, yogurt, smoothies and other favorite foods.
Every NutraSea product undergoes rigorous testing to ensure purity and quality so that you can rest assured that your adding a safe supplement to your child’s diet. In fact, it’s this rigorous form of testing that sets Ascenta apart from it’s competitors. NutraSea Kids is recommended for children aged 2-13 and if any of your children have fish allergies you should consult your doctor before using NutraSea.
My Thoughts
We were sent a bottle of NutraSea Kids, as well as NutraSea +D for myself. I do like that supplements are available now, offering an alternative to eating fish 3 time a week! I think even I would lose it if I had to eat fish that often! The kids were more than happy taking a teaspoon of the NutraSea Kids with it’s very berry flavor and even I thought it was tolerable, but certainly oily. The following day I decided to take out the NutraSea +D and give it a little test drive and I have to say that it was less than desirable. It was oily and didn’t have much of a taste, I think I would have preferred taking the NutraSea Kids. Overall, I would definitely recommend the NutraSea Kids, however I will not be taking anymore of the NutraSea +D. It is important to note that I do not take supplements often and your experience may differ from mine.

Sounds like a great product, will have to ask our pediatrician about it.

Sounds like a GREAT alternative to seafood. I can eat fish every once in a while, but this is a really nice way to get in those essential fatty acids.
