Cooking With Ovaltine? (Giveaway)

You are here: Home / Reviews / Giveaways / Cooking With Ovaltine? (Giveaway)

November 18, 2010 //  by admin//  124 Comments

We’ve been drinking some serious Ovaltine in our house over the past few weeks because….well, because it’s just that good! Not only do I love to drink it as a late night snack (shhhh don’t tell!), but the kids love it too! It’s awesome that the kids love it because it’s high in Vitamin A, C and D, as well as a good source of iron!

A few weeks ago a friend told me that there are a number of recipes online that use Ovaltine and I didn’t quite believe it. I mean really? Cooking with Ovaltine?

So I googled. Cause that’s what you do when you don’t believe something, right?

Sure enough, right there in front of my eyes was a long list of brightly colored blue recipes containing Ovaltine! Ovaltine Cake, Ovaltine Brownies, Shakes, Froth….even bread! All of this could be made right inside my kitchen with a can of chocolatey Ovaltine <—– Yes I just said that!

What was surprising to me, was that all of the recipes I perused were very simple to make. Just a few ingredients including Ovaltine and I could offer my family some tasty treats with the 8 vitamins & minerals included in Ovaltine. Swwwwweeeeet!

Here are a few of my favs…

Ovaltine Froth

3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. crushed ice
1 (1.1 oz.) pkg. Ovaltine drink mix
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
Sliced strawberries, whipped cream and shaved chocolate

Combine milk, ice, Ovaltine and ice cream in blender. Blend 20 seconds. Serve in a 13 1/2 oz. chilled glass. Garnish with sliced strawberries, whipped cream and shaved chocolate. Makes 1 serving.

Melt Your Heart Brownies

1 box brownie mix
1 bag each mini Kitkats, TWIX®, SNICKERS®, Reeses cups
1 Pillsbury Heat ‘n Pour icing (chocolate)
1/4 cup Ovaltine chocolate mix
9×13 glass baking dish
Line the bottom of the baking dish with the mini candies in random order or alternate the candies. Prepare the brownie mix as directed and pour over the candy. Sprinkle the Ovaltine mix over the top of brownie mix. Bake as directed.
Let brownies cool and top off with the Heat n Pour icing. It’s absolutely fabulous!

Sounds Yummy, doesn’t it? Now it’s your turn to have a chance at a little yummy!

I drink Ovaltine every day because vitamins bother me, and Ovaltine is full of them !! I use Ovaltine to flavor sugar-free vanilla pudding…sooo good. A favorite way to use Ovaltine is: make a sundae with vanilla or chocolate ice cream, spoon cherry topping on the ice cream, drizzle a little chocolate syrup on top and the sprinkle generously with Ovaltine. It’s called a Dusty Rose…..
