eGift Social: New Facebook App that Allows you to Send Real Gifts!

Gift cards are my “go to” gift for just about every occasion. Some of our friends and family are so hard to buy for and although I would love to get them a brand new TV for their birthday, it’s not always in the budget! Although gift cards are a wonderful gift idea to give for just about any occasion, a gift card stuffed inside of envelope doesn’t exactly elicite much excitment in others.

I always look for cute gift card holders or a cute accessory from the place I’m purchasing a gift card from. For instance, Coldstone Creamery has ice cream flavored lip gloss by the register and placing a few of these in a cute gift bag, along with the gift card, can make for an adorable gift!

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could pair these fun accessories and novelty items with your gift cards and never leave your house? Perhaps you want to send a gift to a family member who lives across the country?

A new Facebook app has recently been launched that allows you to do just this! eGift Social, by FirstData, allows you to launch a Facebook app right from your Facebook account or web-enabled phone and make your gifting choice of a gift card, an item from the store itself, or both! I can now send my mom, who lives a few hours away from us, her favorite mascara and cream from Sephora! The best part is, I can do it from the comfort of my own home or cell phone!

Here’s How it Works:

1. Simply head over to Facebook and launch the eGift Social app.  The Facebook app can also be launched from your web-enabled phone.
2. Choose your gift. This can be a single item from the store, a gift card or both.
3. Choose whether to send your eGift to your friend or family member through Facebook or by email.
4. Your friend is notified that you have sent them a gift and they can print out the voucher and redeem your gift at a participating retailer including favorites like Cold Stone, Culver’s, Kmart, Dots, Sears, Burger King, Boston Market and Joe’s Crab Shack.  A code is also given on the voucher that can be redeemed online.
