If your a long time reader here, then you know I’m not Giada or Rachael Ray. We are a busy family with a lot going on and I don’t have two hours to spend on dinner at night, or even an hour, for that matter. I’ll even let you in on a little secret: I don’t steam vegetables *gasp*! Primarily this is because I have no idea how to actually steam them the right way and make them taste like something that a human being would actually enjoy eating. With that being said, we had the opportunity to check out the New Geroge Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker, which allows me to make a multitude of quick meals, steam vegetables and steam rice, all in one, single appliance.
George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker
“Make full, healthy meals for your whole family, all in one vessel at the same time with the Smart Kitchen™ Multicooker. The 26-cup capacity cooking vessel lets you make so much more than just rice – you can steam fish and vegetables, prepare a delicious stew or stroganoff, or even make sauces with ease. Then, once you’re done cooking, remove the elegant serving pan from the base for kitchen-to-table serving convenience without a need for extra dishes. It’s the perfect tool to make healthy meals for the family without a lot of cleanup or hassle.”
Our Experience…
Our family loves brown rice and mixed vegetables. I typically buy the frozen mixed vegetables at Costco and steam them in the microwave, in a small bowl with a lid, which proves to be rather messy. We do not eat brown rice as often as we would like to, because I seem to mess it up every time. No I’m not kidding (at this point it’s comical).
I followed the directions and used the included rice measuring cup and added the amount of rice that we needed. I then filled it with water using the water lines on the inside of the pot, to ensure I had just the right amount of water for the amount of rice I put in. Then I dumped the frozen vegetables in the upper steam basket and covered it with the lid. The controlls allowed me to choose white or brown rice and once set, you can leave and forget it. The multicooker will shut-off once it’s finished cooking.
Both the vegetables and the rice came out perfectly! The rice was evenly cooked and wasn’t too hard or too soft. I’m not sure I could ask for it to get much easier and this is one appliance that we will be utilizing multiple times a week!
What I Love…
– The multicooker includes digital controls and they are located on the plug-in probe and not the unit itself
– Timing meal items to be finished at the same time is now a thing of the past, as this appliance allows you to steam rice in the bottom half of the multicooker and vegetables, shrimp, chicken, etc. in the top steaming basket, all at the same time!
– Once removed from the plug-in probe can go from countertop to the table.
– 26 cup capacity, giving you enough space to cook for the entire family.
– Tempered glass lid
– dishwasher-safe accessories (love this)
– adjustable steam vent that allows you to control the steam escape for perfect meals every time!
– non-stick coating
What I didn’t love..
I would have liked to have seen a recipe booklet included with multicooker. It’s hard enough knowing where to start with a new appliance and for me, it’s trial by fire. I like to try a few things that the manufacturer suggests, in order to get a feel for a new appliance and then apply my “not-so-slick-skills” from there.
Buy It!
The George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker retails for $79.99, however right now you can get it for just $39.99 by visiting georgeforemancooking.com.

Thanks for posting this, I really need one of these things! I live in a basement apartment with no stove so we rely on small appliances (like this one) to do the job. I have a Presto multicooker.
The only downside to this is it has that nonstick coating. If they made it in all stainless steel, I’d so get it. My presto multicooker is all stainless steel but it’s not as high-tech.

I need a multicooker! They sound so great, and we eat a lot of stirfrys so this would be handy. Wonder why they don’t give a recipe book, that would be nice!

I love my George Foreman Evolve so I bet this is a great product too. I love one-pot meals! 🙂

I love every single George Foreman product I own, but I hate their lack of directions. I swear it seems they talk in circles creating a huge booklet that tells you nothing. But once you figure it out the products work forever and work really well too! I’m loyal!
