Last month we had the opportunity to team up with Pampers and their Little Miracles Mission on Mission #1: “Pay-it-forward” by congratulating and/or offering support to an expectant mother with a gift or surprise gesture. Once at least 2,500 people pledged to carry out the mission, Pampers promised to respond by throwing 1,000 baby showers to expectant mother’s nationwide.

Pampers more than reached their goal and now they are carrying out their side of Mission #1 in an effort to celebrate babies nationwide! During the month of May and June, Pampers has thrown, and is continuing to throw baby showers all over the United States! Now that Mission #1 is being carried out, Pampers has introduced Mission #2 just in time for Father’s Day: To make a dad’s first Father’s Day one he’ll never forget. The mission is to help give dads the time he and his baby deserve to bond. As it’s so critical to his baby’s development. Just by running some of his errands, covering his late meeting at work or helping him out with some chores at home can make room for some precious quality time with his little miracle.

How Can You Get Involved in Mission #2? Simply head over to the Pampers Facebook Page and pledge to help a special Dad you know (or perhaps, don’t know). Once Pampers has received at least 4,000 pledges to Mission #2, Pampers will respond by throwing special Father’s Day Cook-out’s to Dad’s all over the country, allowing Dad and baby that special time they need to bond! In addition, when you commit to help, you will be given the opportunity to enter to WIN Free diapers and wipes for a year!

  1. I actually helped throw a really fun baby shower last year for a young lady who had married & moved from Alaska to sunny California. We invited lots of people, and even got her mom from Alaska there (she showed up a day earlier to surprise at the party). Lots of people showed up, even ones that didn’t really know her, but knew her husband just to welcome her & support her. We had the cutest little baby cake, a “very pretty in pink” theme. We played a fun game where everyone said something off the wall/little known about themselves & then the Mom to be had to go back & try to remember who went with what story. It was hilarious for everyone & a great ice breaker. We had a great time helping someone most of us barely knew, and now have a great friend (& cute little girl) as well.

  5. One of my favorite things to do for a shower is to make punch! It’s Frugal and
    Simple! Two gifts in one!

    First you’ll need a punch bowl, I used a plastic bucket (something mom can use
    later for storage) and a few rubber duckies!
    Also:
    cups
    laddle

    3 2 liter’s of Ginger Ale
    Kool aid Packet (blue)
    1 cup Sugar or just use the already pre-mix
    Bottle of White Grape Juice
    Sherbert

    Mix the 1/2 Kool aid and white grape Juice in the bucket, add ice to keep it
    cold. then drop in the sherbert by spoonfuls 5-6 depending on your bucket size
    Pour the Ginger ale of it and watch it fizz up! Place the Duckies on top and it
    looks like a bathtub!

    You can continue to add sherbert and Ginger ale as people drink it and the fizz
    dies down! Don’t forget to bring a little dish soap and sponge to wash out
    after and give bucket/duckies to mom as another shower gift!

  8. I would love this so I can throw a shower for my wonderful sister. I don’t have a lot to spend, and she deserves the best. She has been so good to me. She threw me a shower when I had my son and it was so special! She has also helped us huge by watching our son so my husband and I can work. I want to give her a great shower! I think I would do a nice brunch with family and friends. Probably quiche, fruit salad (in carved out cradle out of watermelon), my special breakfast pizza, and of course a cute cake in pink and brown colors! Her theme is pink and brown so id go crazy with this theme! I will make a diaper cake, and have a little clothes line up with cute girl clothes hanging up. We’d play a couple games and just enjoy the day! Id also love to be able to buy her bedding for her! Thanks so much for the chance! My sister deserves this for sure!

  9. I would definitely come up with a unique theme like a garden or barbecue baby shower for the summer. Create fun invites related to that theme. I would also have food and lots of decorations related to the theme and come up with unique games. Let my creative juices flow.

  16. I’d throw the baby shower party for my sister in law and get everyone’s hubby and SO to participate. Men are usually excluded in the event, it would be interesting to see how they come up with shower gifts and have fun time chatting and playing games together.

  22. I would throw one for my friend. Decorations would include brown and pink, lime green balloons. For food- I would do a fun Hawaain feast- pulled pork, rice, veggies, meat, hawaain punch with sprite and serbet ice cream. Lots of gifts and fun games. She is really deserving of this.

I LOVE to decorate, and I LOVE good food, so I would use some of the money on some special decorations, some for really delicious food, and some on a thoughtful gift for my sister and her baby.

  52. I have a friend of mine who’s pregnant and a single mom like me, I’d throw her a baby shower. To make it memorable…hmmm well having a baby shower at all would be memorable for her, but I’d get one of those diaper cakes.

    I’m not sure of the theme, I’d have to do some recon to find out what her thoughts are on the room design. I know the bedding she registered for has a zoo animal theme so something along those lines, I think.

    I know she’d be touched by the gesture and very appreciative of the baby shower and gifts!

  53. This baby shower would be for my cousin who just became a kindergarten teacher and her husband has been depolyed. I would start off by making a diaper cake simple yet becoming traditional as a center piece. I would buy tons of onsies for the quests to decorate with fabric paint/pens. I would play the name the poop game (where you melt chocolate in the diapers). I do think it’s nice to have a theme party and I quess the best would be GEAR such as stollers, carriers, carseat bases, seat protectors, toys for stroller/carrier, peapod, stoller covers, ect. Some of the most expensive gear a baby would need and most people wouldn’t think about buying it for a friend/associate.

  63. I would love to throw a surprise baby shower for my niece Katie, who is like a daughter to me. Her and her husband are expecting their first child and we are all so thrilled. I’d love to host the shower and do it in a yellow duckie theme, since yellow is Katies favorite color and since we won’t know the sex of the baby until he or she is born.

  67. I would love to throw a shower for my friend who is having a boy. She could really use some boy clothes so I would search for some really good deals on clothes. There is also a discount party store locally where I could get some really cheap great decorations. I would also buy her a nice swing since she doesn’t have one.

  69. I would start by inviting all the closest family and friends. The food would be outstanding, as well as desserts for the ladies. I would also make it fun by playing some gameswith the guests, that would get each one of them thinking. I would guve out a door prize or two, and small prizes to the winners, or they could pay it forward to help a charity out. Fun fun fun.I’d also offer raffle tickets for anyone that wanted to bring an extra pack of diapers. This would be for my dearest friend.

  79. I would throw a shower for a mommy-to-be that is expecting her first baby, a little girl in October. The theme would include lots of pink, pretty girly things! We would play fun shower games and eat yummy food. I would use the majority of the $300 to get her a really nice shower presents like tons of diapers!

  87. I would throw a special party for my niece. Even though she has had her baby now for about six months, she has never had a shower. I would give her a party for Isaiah that she would never forget. Family and friends would be invited, the place decorated in baby blue: streamers, balloons, and new baby toys hanging around. A table loaded with cases of Pampers. My husband would have to think up the menu for the party, since he is my chef.

  101. well, on our block we had someone come over from joplin because they were displaced and she is due- i really do not know her but also know she does not know alot of others either so we could do a housewarming/ congrats for her- helping her since she will not have anything to reuse from her other children. I would have people bring something for the baby and something in a dish for her- like a covered tupperware that she could also keep and reuse after… I think I would just have a teddybear shower and have toys that the brother can play with too. I don’t know her that well since the moving truck is still in the lot parked- yep she recovered some of it but really it would be nice to have some new things and some help from new friends

  102. i am a big gift giver at baby showers ,all moms need so many things big and small!! plus i love shopping for baby items lol
    one way i make showers special is to make a “mom after baby basket”, put new slippers , a gown for the hospital, a brush, and other small items , a few magazines and snacks! the moms really seem to appriciate these baskets and are really inexpensive to make, since i can get razors, pads, deodarents, shampoos , lotions ect., for nothing or close to it!!!

    A classmate of my late daughter (they just graduated high school) is pregnant. My daughter is well remembered for her love of “purple butterflies”. This would be a great shower for the expectant mom and a great way to bring Olivia’s presence into the shower.

  184. I’d throw a shower for the women I volunteer for at a local charity for unwed and/or addicted mothers and their children. Many of the girls are on public assistance and cannot afford to eat healthy meals. I’d prepare wholesome, fresh, organic appetizers and snacks (I also teach cooking classes on occasion) . I’d have a diaper cake instead of a regular cake, though I would make an assortment of cupcakes in different varieties.

  188. I recently learned of a mom who while in labor at the hospital lost everything she and her husband owned when their apartment building caught fire. They lost their entire nursery along with everything else. I would use the money to help replace the basic necessities such as diapers, clothing and baby care and feeding items.
    I guess it’s special because I don’t know these people personally, but I would really love to help them.

  220. Honestly, pregnant with a boy this time & due in August; I would LOVE to be able to throw myself a “Baby Blue” party.

    The thought of getting all the great friends & family together to celebrate the surprise addition would be the best ever. There is a great community park nearby; Complete w/a Sprinkler Park and Kiddie playland. Rented pavilions would be the perfect shade on a great summer day to adorn w/BLUE everywhere. Winds will blow the Kitchy Klassic decor of paper lanterns above, gobs of blue balloons, and blue drinks, food, and simply great family fun.

    This is a great contest. And I’d really love the chance to better prepare for this wonderful surprise we’ve been given.

  279. I’m going to throw a baby shower for my sister later this summer. I plan on cooking healthy versions of comfort food because I know that’s what she loves. I also plan to incorporate lots of necessary baby items in the games so she can take them home at the end of the day. Also, I’m brainstorming creative favor ideas for the guests.

  308. I would donate it to help throw a joint baby shower for myself and my sister-in-law. We are due 5 weeks apart. I would use it to decorate the shower in everything Husker football. Get the little guy a personalized Husker jersey, cleats, and maybe even a mini helmet :). So many things you can do with $300.00. Maybe even buy Pampers and have them customized with the Nebraska logo!!!

  314. Id serve cupcakes and chips and dip and play all the classic baby shower games, such as the candy bar diaper and the guess the belly string and all that good stuff. Classic is better. Sometimes people have formal baby teas. That could be fun too. 😉

Its her first born, the first grand baby for both sides, and the first baby in our group of friends… the baby boy is uber special and we are all going to spoil her!   396. Our daughter’s shower (baby #2) is this summer, and to make it extra special, I am surprising her by getting her best friend who has been living abroad, to come! I am also making pacifier favors, by hotgluing lifesavers and Good & Plenty candies together, and then tying with a ribbon. Google pacifier lifesaver if you want to do it too!

  424. If I were lucky enough to win, I’d use the Pampers GC to throw a baby shower for my youngest sister, who is due with their first baby this Dec. We’d try to make a memorable shower by adding personal touches to everything from the food to the decorations to the venue. Having the shower catered by my sister’s favorite caterer would be the first step and having decorations Martha Stewart would be proud of would be next! She doesn’t know the gender of the baby, so we’d go with neutral colors and theme.

Our daughter is pregnant, a summer shower is planned, and to make it extra special, my mom and sisters and friends are making favors (pacifiers our of Good and Plenty candy and Lifesavers), buckets with flower arrangements in them with tiny bottles and rattles inserted, and other goodies. To make it even more special, I am surprising my daughter by having her friend from France be at the shower!

  538. I would like to throw a shower for my sister in law. She is expecting her first child and she has had to quit working. Since, they are broke, I would focus mainly on the best gifts I could get her, but I would also incorporate a bunch of budget friendly elements from showers I have attended, including party games, pot luck buffet and decorations that double as gifts, like a clothesline of baby clothes and a diaper cake.

  570. My friend REALLY needs the cash – she is about 7 weeks from her due date and they are very broke. They tried for 5 years to get pregnant, so this is a MIRACLE.. but I wish they could enjoy it more by being able to buy more of the things they need. I’d give them the cash – straight up! I think I’d make the shower extra special by filling the hall with her favorite flowers, have her favorite restaurant and bakery cater the affair, and rent a high-end video camera to capture testimonials from her friends and family members to play during the shower (and for Trish to keep as a nice memento as well).   746. I would make the baby shower I throw special by including the father and have a co-ed shower. We can have fun games and be surrounded by all the family and friends that are special to the parents to be. A baby shower can be exciting for a new father as well- have co-ed games great finger foods (and the men can grill woo hoo!) I would keep the decorations simple and sweet. I would have gifts for the baby as well as the parents. Like have a collection to send the parents away on a baby-moon. A baby shower is a fun time that can be great for the mom AND dad to be!

I would also go semi crazy on gifts as well. They are first time parents and I would put together a huge gift basket of all the little stuff she is going to need that not most parents know about.

  797. The way things are in today’s economy, I would pool everyone together to help prepare for the shower (potluck, decorations, etc.), and use the $$$ to buy diapers, formula, wipes, etc, etc. My friends would appreciate that more than wasting a lot of $$ on the way the room looks, etc.

  809. My cousin and her hubby decided to wait until the shower to learn the sex of the baby. They had the doctor write it down and then gave the results to the woman who made the cake. She then colored the inside of the cake to match the sex of the baby (pink in their case). The cutting of the cake was a very memorable moment.

  840. What I like best at showers is the games, so I’d probably try to pick a few really fun ones. My daughter was given a baby shower last year and all of the guests were encouraged to give her advice. I thought that was very insightful and encouraging.   866. My party would be special because I’d be throwing it for the grandmother-to-be. My neighbor is having a hard time having her first child be on the other side of the country and pregnant, so it would be SO much fun to give her all the presents we would otherwise be sending to her daughter and then we could all ooh and aah over them together, and she could bring them out with her when the baby is born. I even have it worked out how I would figure out who to invite!

  875. I would make it super fun! We would have tons of games. One of my favorites is guessing how many toilet paper sheets it would take to wrap around the mom to be’s tummy. We would have fun food. I would have a cake made that had a baby bootie on each piece. I would also only invite the mom to be’s best friends. You don’t want anything to take away from her special day. Thank you!

  879. I just found out that my nephew and his wife (an ovarian cancer survivor) are pregnant with their first child! I would throw a miracle shower for the miracle baby and I would go overboard with presents. Also, since he is in the military, they don’t even know where they will be when the baby is born, so I will make sure that the entire family can make it to the shower.

  895. When I had a baby shower for my niece, I had a cake with a baby bottle sticking out of it. Then, I had a paper umbrella hanging over the table. We played so many fun games, and I made sure everyone left with a gift.

  907. I always make sure to buy lots of little gifts that helped me and that I didn’t receive at my shower. This is mostly stuff you don’t think about before you have a baby, like Mylicon and Tylenol, but I also love giving velcro swaddling blankets – they are so much easier to wrap than regular blankets!
