Moon Dough Introduces a New, Less Crumbly Formula!

You are here: Home / Reviews / Moon Dough Introduces a New, Less Crumbly Formula!

September 14, 2011 //  by admin//  4 Comments

Last year we had the opportunity to try out Moon Dough, a hypo-allergenic magic molding dough that never dries out. What we found was that kids go absolutely bonkers over this magical dough, however mom’s quickly learned that this “out of this world” molding compound was a wee bit on the messy side.

So, Moon Dough decided to take their idea back to the drawing board and give it a little “dough-lift”. Moon Dough is getting ready to announce a new dough formula that is said to feature a better consistency for molding and is less crumbly. Of course, the dough will keep it’s reputation of never drying out, making this a dough that you can use over and over again.

We had to try it out for ourselves!

We were giving the opportunity to try out the new formula, along with the Push ‘n Pop Breakfast Set, allowing kids of all ages to make a lavish breakfast, including waffles, pancakes and toast. Just like the moon dough sets we have had in the past, our girls fell in love with this set, and made different breakfast variations and presentations for a good two hours straight. And yes, they enjoyed every.single.moment.of it. It’s no surprise that kids love this stuff – but, is the new formula really less messy?

Here’s what we found….

The new formula is less crumbly, however it’s still crumbly. Although we did not have crumbly pieces covering the floor and the table, there was still a descent amount of crumbs to clean up when playtime was over. What I do like about this formula is that much like other doughs we have played with, you can grab a piece of dough and stick it to the smaller pieces, making for quick and easy clean-up. We also found that the consistency rocks – and even mom and dad had a good time molding this “marshmallow-like” dough.

Do We Recommend Moon Dough?
Absolutely! Our kids engage this dough more than any other activity we have in our home. They ask to play with it daily, and because Moon Dough never dries out, you only need to purchase a set once and it will yield unlimited play time. This is what we would call a GREAT DEAL!

We also love that Moon Dough is Wheat Free and Odor Free!

Buy It!
Moon Dough is available at ToysRus, Target, Walmart, Kmart, A.C. Moore, Michaels, eToys and Amazon.

Thank You to Moon Dough and Team Mom for sending us a playset for our review. My thoughts and opinions remain my own.

I haven’t let my kids have/play with this yet because of the mess. Maybe I should rethink that now … hmmm.

I too have kept it out of the house for fear of the mess! I will have to check out the new formula – the girls will be happy to hear this!

That is so nice to know! We had moon dough at one point, but I couldn’t stand it because of how crumbly it was. Thanks for the great review!
