The Subway Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Sandwich returns for a limited time. First offered last year as a special Subway has brought back this smoky bbq chicken sandwich.
Subway are offering this for a limited time as a $6 footlong (anyone remember the $5 footlong promotion that stuck in our head but in reality we could rarely find a sandwich that ever qualified)?
We visit Subway quite a bit as it does provide options for all of us with our rather diverse dietary needs. We have a mix of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free in our family so finding quick food options on the go is not as simple as it is for some.
The fact that you can pick up a salad as well as a sandwich at Subway makes it a good option for us – particularly on road trips where most of the fast food places just don’t have good choices for vegetarians. We also visit Subway when we are in England. We can never resist that distinctive Subway bread aroma which we can confirm is exactly the same in any London high street as it is in the US.
As the only one who ever eats meat in our family, my husband was the one sampling the Subway Smokehouse BBQ Chicken. He chose the 6 inch which was priced at $4 plus tax. Usually he sticks with us veggie lovers at Subway and doesn’t eat meat at Subway so confessed to being just a little bit excited about being required to actually eat the chicken! I think the excitement turned to disappointment when he saw the shredded chicken being taken out of the pre portioned plastic tray and put on the sub. He remarked that he now remembered why he rarely had meat at Subway!
That said he felt the Sub was fine but nothing great. The sauce was way too sweet for his taste. Much more sweet than smokey. He pronounced it just OK but not something that he would choose again. We visit Subway quite a bit but will stick with our usual favorites.
