Blogging + iPad = Tough Business!

I recently joined the masses and purchased an iPad. I have heard nothing but rave reviews on the iPad, and it seemed that everyone I knew had one, and loved it. It sounded like a sound investment considering the amount of traveling we do each year, and I was intrigued by the possibility of “blogging on the go”!

When we travel, there is often a large amount of driving involved. Given that we are not on winding roads, I take the opportunity to put together blog posts (utilizing a number of different apps and tools), engage in social media conversations, and return emails. 90% of the time this works rather well, although it takes double the amount of time to get an article published. There are times, however, that I need to email big files, and times that I need to send something right away. 3G is great when it works, but I often find myself reciting the words “Send Now” over and over again, in a loud manner.

The iPad doesn’t typically cooperate with me.

I can always send large files free when I’m home, and overall that is my only complaint in using the iPad + 3G. I have an extensive blogging “tool box” of sorts that took me a good month to figure out, and I’ll admit I’m a bit spoiled. I can tell you that my monthly fee for 3G is much less than what I was paying previously for my laptop and who wouldn’t love that? Blogging from my iPad is tough business, but certainly better than the alternative of – nothing!

Do you blog from your iPad? What apps have you found useful?

I don’t have an iPad but I’ve tried blogging from my iPhone and it didn’t work out well. Now I just do it from my computer.
