Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree….I’m SO glad that your decorated! For some reason my least favorite part of Christmas is putting the tree up. There’s really no reason that I should dislike this activity, however every year I focus on the lights and decorations before dragging out the tree.
I Love the Tree.
The Tree is Pretty.
The Tree makes me Happy.
So you see my dilemma.
Here’s how decorating the tree typically plays out:
You have to appropriately place the children where they won’t break the decorations, primarily the personalized Christmas Ornaments that are keepsakes and you hope to pass on one day. At the same time, you must chase the kids back to their designated places because somehow the Christmas Tree has a magnetic pull on children, who continue to make a dash for the ornaments.
Once the ornaments are out and ready to be hung, you have to keep the peace because the small people who live in your home are now arguing over who gets to hang the fairy ornament.
Then…it happens….an ornament breaks.
Then…another ornament breaks because one child can’t do something without the other one following suit. After realizing that you now have to get out the Dyson while placing the children back in their designated places (while the magnetic pull of the Christmas tree continues to pull them away), you suddenly glance at the clock and realize that it’s bedtime and you have yet to feed them.
You then look over at the tree to see that just 2 empty hooks from the broken ornaments have made it to the tree thus far.
You then realize that it’s all YOUR fault.
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree…this year enjoy your two hooks!
Feel you with the personalized ornaments. Broke my baby ornament a couple of years ago and my sweet husband made his best efforts to fix it.
